Are you watching, world?
It's 8:55 pm on the East Coast and this time tomorrow Barack Obama will be the 44th President of these great United States. Today Obama rolled up his sleeves and helped paint a homeless shelter, spending most of his time paying tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King and the volunteerism and public service that was such a big part of King's legacy.
Tomorrow he'll usher in a "New Era of Responsibility," challenging each and every one of us to step up to the plate. You've led us there and we're ready for it. With you at the helm, Mr. President, we'll gladly heed your call.

Preston, when you have a chance, stop by my blog and pick up your Lemonade Stand Award! Your upbeat writing style has been a welcome read for me now!
My whole lesson plan for today revolves around the inaugration.
I am worried I will get choked up during the day : )
HERE WE GO!
It'll be interesting.

Solitairemare - Thank you for the award. I love being recognized.
Erin, Nick and Merrick - What a great learning opportunity. And I was choked up all day so it's ok.

Great picture of the family...they are just too wonderful :-)
I feel such a positive spirit after watching all of that yesterday...I just wish we would have gone into D.C. to see it. We live SO close!
I am conducting a fashion poll of sort on my blog today! What did you think of the Inaugural gown? And the FABULOUS Ms. Franklin's hat????
It's been said before - our long national nightmare is over!
Rachel - We went to a local restaurant because they were having an inaugural happy hour until 7. They had Obama tinis and all kinds of fun drinks. It was fun to celebrate!
I liked both outfits and the gown was astunning. My mom didn't like the jacket to the yellow/gold outfit though.
A Free Man - Yes, the nightmare is over!
I've left you a little something over at my place...come by when you get a chance....
Wow, I'm a little behind here! Google Reader just posted this today...
We were allowed to watch the inauguration at work via Internet stream and man, was it inspiring. People were wiping away tears, clapping, standing, cheering, etc. I've never seen such excitement over a new President EVER.
I was thinking that "Change" and "Hope" were just buzzwords for his campaign, not true cornerstones of his presidency. But from what I've seen so far, he's wasn't kidding.
I saved the picture of the Obamas waving goodbye to the Bushes as they left The White House in the helicopter. I've been waiting years to see that. Now let's get back on track, Mr. President!
